 After completing a Discovery Flight to ensure that this is a path you want to take, you will need to obtain an FTN number by filling out this IACRA form.

The FTN number that is generated from completing this questionnaire will be needed for Flight Instruction.

*NOTE*:  Online systems like Gleim include automated endorsements (permission) to take the FAA written exam when ready. The other two options require endorsement by an instructor.

Passing the written test prior to flight training via the options in step 3 will likely make you more competitive for obtaining scholarships like the ones below.

However, there's a trade-off, as the written test material may be easier to comprehend if supplemented by actual flight training at the same time.
